Public Programs is a yearly (semester) series hosted by the School of Architecture at Carnegie Mellon. The series is a mixture of guest lectures, screenings, panel discussions, and workshops. Each series edition has a different theme, selected by a panel of the School's faculty. The theme is reflected in the topics and speakers that are invited. This in turn is supported by the poster, which is the primary graphic output for the series. The theme for this edition of the Public Programs series was “Care.”

This edition of Public Programs brought together a diverse lineup of speakers and topics, more so than in past years. A cross, a universally recognized symbol, was used to unify them all graphically and to represent the expansive ideas of the series theme, “Care.”

Historically, the cross symbol has been used from WWII CARE packages, first aid response measures, and through to today's burgeoning wellness industry. A set of symbols were created to be used on the series poster.
